Imaginative Impracticality

I was browsing through some architecture blogs while rendering in the labs when I saw these cool pictures in BLDGBLOG, inspired by someone by the name Daniel Docu.

This has totally redefined the term 'tree house'.

Pagodas...on top of apostles..I mean..really..thats cool man..impracticality is really nice to look at.

Floating mosque...how cool would it be to pray inside the building...imagine the bilal making the athan...subhanallah

Twisted version of the Egyption Pyramids. Though it looks like a building under construction, but still, it looks good.

Now this is really cool. Skybridge! Very gothic.

These are all renderings for a game called "Guildwar". The artists must be really excited making up all these impossible structures. In architecture school, u can do this but u will surely be asked about the pragmatics and practicality in reality. So most of the times, ur imagination is kinda restricted by the physics law. But here...all sorts of unrealistic ideas came out of the renders.

I reckon architects should also be involved in the gaming industry. Just so that once in a while, all the crazy ideas can be poured out. A gameplay that depicts the adventure of the once great civilization of Islam would be really good. An RPG maybe, making the player becomes one of the great leaders like Sultan Muhammad Al-Fateh, or even Salahuddin al Ayyubi. Yeah...a new way of doing dakwah among gamers.

Well, just a thought. Not sure how it will be judged in terms of syariah.

Anyways, the images are really inspiring (i'm an architecture student). Aesthetically pleasing, if there is such word. =)

Wassalams.
