TED talks to future architects at Harvard

The Charged Void: Urbanism by Alison & Peter Smithson. Thank you Arif Hussin.

"Don't pursue your passion directly. At least not yet. Instead... pursue the things that will empower you.

Pursue knowledge.

Be relentlessly curious.

Listen, learn.

You're leaving Harvard this week, but your learning cannot ever, ever be allowed to stop."

(Chris Anderson, TED Curator.)

 .........................

On a totally unrelated note, I've recently stumbled upon this project.

Somehow, it reminds me of our Malay Houses, which has remained in its traditional imagery since forever. I couldn't really find a modern version of it. Maybe the National Mosque is an exception.

This one however, is not a Malay House, not even for Malaysian. Its an affordable housing design by KieranTimberlake for New Orlean's Make It Right project. Looking at the ornamentation of the rails, I'm quite surprised to know that the precedent study for the project are the stilt houses in Bangladesh. I would have thought somewhere in Asia.

Globalisation. Heh.
